I've just received the invites for my exhibition at Oriel Plas Glyn Y Weddw, they fold into lovely little postcards :)
I've also got my hands on the press release, you can see it *here*
If you've never been to the gallery, then it's well worth checking out - it's a beautiful building set in a stunning location & is the oldest art gallery in Wales.Fact.
Contact me directly for invites - info@nikipilkington.com
23.01.11 - 03.04.11
The dates are all confirmed & I can now tell you that I will be exhibiting my new series at Plas Glyn Y Weddw, Llanbedrog from 23.01.11 - 03.04.11. Come & have a look if you're in the area, or even if you're not in the area, make a flask of tea, pack some biscuits & get over there.
*Happy New Year You*
It's been a busy few weeks for me & it's fair to say that I've neglected this blog a fair bit, but with a pretty good excuse. Among other things, I've just finished working a set of illustrations for Paul McCartney's new album dvd. I can't show you any sneak previews just yet, but I hope to be able to very very soon.
Volt Magazine
Right now I should be on a train to London for my shoot with the beautiful biannual that is Volt Magazine, but the snow has messed it all up for me. I was supposed the be featured alongside some brilliant individuals as an 'Icon' in their next issue, so I'm pretty gutted that I can't make it, but fingers crossed I'll work with them on something else next year.
Just thought I'd share my disappointment with you.
**NEW**
New updates on my website now...look.
I've just added a new gallery of illustrations to my website. These pieces will all be exhibited at Plas Glyn Y Weddw in January 2011, and can be purchased through the gallery itself - prints will also be available, get in touch with me for more details.
Blanket Magazine
The celebration issue of Blanket magazine is here and guess who's in it? It's rammed full of beautifully inspiring illustrations by very talented folks, and I for one and flattered to be among them. This wonderful magazine doesn't come alone either. If you get yourself a copy, you'll find it comes with a calendar *you'll find me in May*

Illustration Rally feature
I'm very pleased to say that me and my work have just been featured on 'Illustration Rally', a lovely blog bursting with beautiful illustrated things. Here's all the nice stuff they had to say about me:
"Its feature time again and we have a real treat for you this time! Niki Pilkington has such a new and clean style. Its simply eye-watering in its execution and work this fresh leaves me almost lost for words. Though that said, her work has an importance and this is due to her finding a new definition, and relevance, carving out a style that bursts out and brings her subjects into perfect focus. Its like high definition illustration, delicate and precise, her subjects are etched into the viewer in perfect monochrome, and her images with their sense of space seem to levitate, creating the third dimension even without her playful sculptural work. Not only is her work alarmingly beautiful but the tender consideration of her subject is the real treasure in her work. Anyone who gets the chance should feel lucky to be her subject! Its great to have her, and even better to find out about her here!"

43 Principles of Home
I was commissioned by the lovely people at Harper Collins to draw this biro spread for Kevin McCloud's new book '43 Principles of Home'.

Rougier & Plé, my new best friend.
I've been doing my fair share of exploring since getting to Paris & have found my new favorite hang out. 'Rougier & Plé' is where I can usually be found if you ever need to find me. It's a huge four floored art shop that has every paper stock that you could ever imagine. Here's some of the beautiful paper I will be working on over the next few weeks.
