Viva la France

Niki

So I've finally arrived in Paris. It's as beautiful as ever here and I can't wait to get to work drawing my new series in this inspirational city. I will be keeping you posted here on all things Parisian, as well as updating my website and doing a fair bit of (illustrated) trend spotting along the way.
It's not all pleasure and leisure though, I'm still very much working on commissions from here, so get in touch if you have a project for me.
Until then, here's my latest biro illustration.

Another sneaky peek

Niki

It's still very much in its early stages, but here's a little look at what I'm working on this week. I'm still knee deep in Welsh idioms for my next exhibition & this edition will be a re-worked version of one I've tried before. I was never thrilled with the final outcome of my initial version but I'm still very much caught up in the idea, so I just have to give it another go.

Collaborations

Niki

I'm excited to tell you that the first of many collaborations with the wonderful US based D'andhra has just got underway & the outcome will be released for your eyes to see later this month. Meanwhile, if you're in the area, then D'andhra is taking part in the 'Chocolate and art show' at Daydream republic, LA - Go check it out if you can.

More sneaky peeks for you

Niki

Here's a bit more of what I've been up to. Now that the cat illustration below is now complete, I think I've got a few more late nights to come - Knitwear takes a LOOONG time to draw.

Sneaky peek

Niki

Here's a little look at what I've been working on. More updates coming soon.

We hold secrets. Number ten

Niki

Although I'm devoting most of my time to preparing for my next exhibition, I'm also trying to keep on top of my other work. My 'We hold secrets' series won't be exhibited in January but will be on show in different places at different times in 2011- so here's number ten.

All things exhibitions & commissions

Niki

I've just been offered an exhibition at the beautiful Plas Glyn Y Weddw gallery in Llanbedrog, North Wales from January to April next year (full details tbc), so I'm extra busy starting to put everything together for that right now.
I'll be posting regular updates on here so that you can get a bit of an idea of what the exhibition will be like. I'm hoping it's going to be a little bit different to what you'd expect to see from me. I'm bringing in some new techniques and ideas that I hope you'll love. I'm also on twitter (twitter.com/nikipilkington) so you can keep up to date with all things drawing there.

I'm still undertaking commissions at the same time, so please do get in touch (info@nikipilkington.com) for more details and prices. I'd love to hear from you and I'd love to draw you even more. Remember, it's not too early to get in touch about Christmas commissions!!

We hold secrets. Number nine

Niki

Here is 'Balloons', the ninth in my newest series of illustrations. I hope you like it.
My website is in the process of a bit of a revamp right now, so don't be alarmed if things jump around a bit - it'll be back to its (new & improved self) in no time.
I have lots of news to tell you, so come back soon for some exciting updates.

We hold secrets. Number seven

Niki

I've just finished another illustration as part of my 'We hold secrets' series. These are due to be exhibited in lots of places *in very beautiful box frames *over the next few months - I'll let you know the dates asap.

The Import

Niki

Here's a link to a lovely little feature about me and my illustrations.
The Import talks all things creative, and as part of the 'weheart' family, is definitely a blog worth bookmarking if you haven't already done so.
In less than a week I will be the first in a long line of new guest posters on the blog. I'll link them here once they're up and running.

It's rude to stare

Niki

I draw in biro quite a lot, but usually only by itself. It's great if I'm out and about with my sketchbook because it's all I need to take, but in my studio I have everything at my fingertips - literally, so I thought it was time to experiment.'It's rude to stare' is a combination of biro, ink, pencil, watercolour and gold pen.

My blog's been quiet, because I've been busy.

Niki

I've just got back from a beautiful trip to Paris, visiting where I will be moving shortly. I love it there.
My sixth 'We hold secrets' illustration is pretty obviously inspired by my travels.
Here's the Eiffel tower.

Envelopes

Niki

Here's the fifth edition to my latest series of illustrations. 'We hold secrets' can all be seen on my website here.

I miss felt tips

Niki

It's been absolutely ages since I've worked with felt-tips and markers, so I thought it was time to dust them off. Here's the result.
