Week three / Wax stamps

My lovely boyfriend recently bought me a old style wax sealing stamp with the letter N on it and lots of pretty coloured wax sticks - I simply couldn't love it more.
I've been doing a lot of Christmas commissions lately & this is how I've been sealing the invoices - I think it's pretty neat.

Now all I need is IKPLGTO to write the rest of my name.

Circus folk

Just to show you that I'm still working hard, here's a sneaky peak of a brand new project I'm working on. The concept is to highlights the lengths some people go to just to stand out/be noticed today. Sorta looks like the circus came to town.
More extreme examples to follow soon - probably in the form of a new gallery on my website.

Week two / Triangles

I bought a new scarf the other day, white with little black triangles all over it...It made me realise just how good triangles really are, so this is what I'm dedicating this weeks 'favorite' to. Definitely more triangle shaped things to come for me.

The bigger picture

Right now, for me, it's all about trying out new things, so I thought I'd start with the way that I present my illustrations, and give my scanner a rest! There's so much beautiful scenery here in North Wales, so I might as well include it in what I'm doing. This was just my first attempt, so lots more to follow pretty soon I hope-if it ever stops raining!

Week One / To draw with.

Ball point pens. I can't get enough of them right now. I like the gamble of not being able to use a rubber & it's made me realise that everything looks so much better in royal blue.

This Week...

I've decided to start documenting my 'favourites' each week, so that you can see what I'm drawing / doing / seeing / wanting and so on. I'll illustrate whatever this is and upload for all to see.

Kyffin Williams Drawing Prize 2009 / Oriel Ynys Mon

I entered one of my 'Voyeur Fifty' illustrations 'Ayaka' into the Kyffin Williams Drawing competition back in the summer & was chosen as one of the exhibitors. The private view was the 23rd of October, so Johnny came along with me & took some photos.

The exhibition runs from the 24th of October until the 24th of January, so if you find yourself in Anglesey over the next few weeks, check it out - there's some great new talent on offer - I especially liked the dog illustrations by an artist called Jon Oakes - link to follow.

Now that I'm in Wales, it's not as easy to source 'the right kind' of models as it was in London, but it's making me try out things that I've been wanting to do for a while. So this is where it all begins...There's going to be a lot of experiments over the next few weeks & I'll be blogging as many as possible - it's about time I keep this up-to-date.
Self-portraits is my first installment. People are always on at me to draw myself, so I'm giving it a go...

The girls from WAH Magazine have opened a ridiculously cool nail bar in the heart of East London.

I'm exhibiting some of my illustrations there on Kingsland Road, Dalston for a few weeks, so why not go down & check it out & you should probably get your nails done at the same time right?
